Various Types of Automobiles – Uses in Different Sectors
The Indian automotive industry is among the most prominent automotive industries globally. This industry produces around crores of vehicles yearly, including passenger vehicles, transport vehicles, three & two-wheelers and specific requirement vehicles. Also, India has the second rank globally for manufacturing two-wheelers. Moreover, India is the eighth-most prominent manufacturer of commercial vehicles, the sixth-largest manufacturer of passenger cars, and the largest manufacturer of tractors.
In this way, there are several types of automobiles in India. The industry divides them into four categories, including Two-wheelers and three-wheelers, Passenger vehicles, Commercial vehicles and Special application vehicles. So, let’s explore more about them.
Various Types of Automobiles
Here we are with several categories of automobiles. So, scroll a bit more to see them with their vehicles.
Two-Wheelers & Three-Wheelers
This category consists of two-wheelers and three-wheelers in India. Let’s understand them.
Two-Wheelers
As per the name, the two-wheelers run on two wheels and are the most preferred vehicles. In several developed countries, the two-wheeler is one of the broad means of passenger transportation. Therefore, we can easily see two-wheelers in the city and towns as well as villages. In this segment, we can see scooters, motorcycles and many more. But motorcycles account for about 70 % of total two-wheelers.
Three-Wheelers
Three-wheelers have three wheels and can be human-powered or engine powered. Hence, another name for the three-wheelers is the auto-rickshaw. Moreover, the Indian public transport in the city mostly depends on auto-rickshaws. These vehicles have diesel, CNG, petrol as well as electric engines.
Passenger Vehicles
Passenger vehicles refer to the vehicles which can transport passengers from one place to another. There are several types of passenger vehicles in India. See them in the following section.
Car
A Motor Car or car is a vehicle with its own engine that carry passengers from one place to another at a decent speed. Most people use cars for personal transport, and the rest use them for commercial purposes.
Jeep
Jeep is considered an off-road vehicle. It is one of the oldest vehicles on the market. Moreover, Jeep comes under the SUV category and is used for the transportation of passengers. Firstly, jeeps were manufactured for military purposes, but it was available for civilians after some time.
Commercial Vehicles
Commercial vehicles are the machines mainly used for transportation of either goods or passengers. Therefore, the owner of the commercial vehicle makes money by transporting goods as well as passengers.
Trucks
Trucks are goods carrier vehicles that have medium to large sizes. According to work, we can separate them into several categories, including tippers, trucks, trailers, etc. Moreover, trucks are the soil of the goods transport business. Also, they contribute to the Indian economy.
Bus
Buses are powerful passenger vehicles with a massive capacity for transport. Around 100 passengers can travel at a time in a bus. That’s why it is one of the best means of public transportation. Moreover, the bus can be small, big, AC, non AC, Volvo, etc.
Special Application Vehicles
Special application vehicles are manufactured for special needs like a tractor for farming, road rollers for construction, etc.
Agricultural Vehicles
Agricultural vehicles are manufactured for meeting the needs of modern agriculture. Modern agriculture needs so many advanced and technological vehicles for maximising performance. In this concern, technology came with advanced vehicles for agriculture, including tractors, seed drills, harvesters, etc.
Tractor
The tractor is a vital farming machine to increase a farm’s productivity. For several farming tasks, it can handle all the farming tools, including ploughs, seed drills, threshers, cultivators, etc. In addition, it can plough the land, make land weed-free, cut the crop, spray chemicals, etc.
Apart from this, the Swaraj 744 is the perfect example of a powerful tractor. Therefore, it increases the efficiency of your farm. Moreover, it can easily pull and lift the implements as it has an enormous lifting capacity. Also, the powerful engine of this model provides efficient work.
Combine Harvester
A combine harvester is an agricultural machine for performing cutting, threshing, winnowing and cleaning in a single operation. This machine can easily cut the operational time and cost for the farmers. Also, a Combine Harvester can be beneficial for harvesting wheat, barley, oats, corn (maise), rye, soybeans and flax crops. Also, it can minimise the seed damage during harvesting so that farmers can easily get benefits.
Construction Equipment Vehicles
Construction equipment is the machines that help in the construction sector. There are several types of construction vehicles available in India. We are here with some of the construction vehicles.
Bulldozer
It is a heavy construction vehicle for moving the earth or stones with a large blade. It makes the ground flat by pushing the rocks or dirt. This machine has tremendous power for making the ground flat by pushing heavy objects and even removing things from the ground. That’s why it is a perfect machine for constructing roads, buildings, bridges, etc.
Road rollers
A road roller is a soil compactor. It is an engineering vehicle to compact soil, asphalt, gravel, concrete, etc., for constructing a road or a foundation. It works similarly as a roller for landfills in agriculture. Moreover, the machine has massive weight and compresses the surface by being a roll.
Dumpers
Dumpers or tippers are the machines for transporting constructional materials, including rocks, bricks, concrete, cement, sand, etc. The luggage area of this vehicle has a hydraulic lifter to lift to dump the materials on the ground. The dumper is one of the prime constructional equipment.
Excavators
Excavators have a long bucket in the front of the machine. These machines are handy for digging operations. Also, the bucket of this machine can be replaced when it is damaged.
Special Vehicles
We have seen passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, agricultural vehicles, etc. So, apart from these vehicles, the industry has some particular types of vehicles for special needs. These vehicles have specific uses in their segment, including a train that can move only on the rail.
Train
A railway locomotive is an automobile bigger than a car, bus or truck. In the beginning, trains were pulled by locomotives powered by steam. Nowadays, most rail machines run on diesel or electricity. In India, rail is an essential means of transporting goods and passengers. As you know, a train cannot run on roads but runs on a railway track.
Tanker
Tankers are also considered in the automobile applications used when liquids like water, milk, oil, petrol, diesel, etc., must be transported for long distances. These tankers mounted horizontally on the frame with massive cylinders by specially built automobiles. This warning is to caution people on the road to not bring any exploding objects like matchsticks or firecrackers near the Tanker.
Forklift
A forklift is widely used to carry components and goods in large warehouses, factories, godowns and industries. In simple words, this machine delivers materials or goods over short distances. However, it used only on the four walls of a building and not on the outer street. Moreover, it can make work easy in its segment for the owners.
