Sergey Tokarev: Roosh, STEM is FEM, and SET University organise several educational programs for Ukrainians this summer
Ukraine’s technology sector not only remains operational during wartime but is also actively engaged in training to-be specialists in this field. For instance, SET University, STEM is FEM, and AI House, co-founded by Sergey Tokarev, are launching the largest number of educational courses this summer. The businessman shares the details of the programs and explains what skills intended graduates will gain.
AI/ML courses by AI House
The main goal of AI HOUSE, a project that is part of the Roosh ecosystem, is to build an artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) community in Ukraine. That is why its founders are launching a program that will help Ukrainians get access to AI/ML courses from top experts in this industry.
For instance, such world-renowned experts as Sébastien Bubeck (Microsoft), Yoshua Bengio (Mila/U. Montreal), Gaël Varoquaux (INRIA), and Alex Smola (Amazon Web) will deliver lectures to the students of the project. According to Sergey Tokarev, a Founding Partner at Roosh, the educational program includes lectures and workshops on automated machine learning, compressing models for deep learning, and evaluating ML models’ performance.
To take part in the program, intending students must make a donation of any amount more than $1 or UAH 10. And the project organizers, in turn, will transfer the raised funds to the charity fund Come Back Alive.
STEM is FEM to help girls master IT professions for free
Through the initiative of the NGO STEM is FEM, 150 girls aged 12 to 16 will get a chance to attend 10 free online IT courses. The Swiss educational organization Empowerment Lab and the American corporation Oracle became the partners of this project.
Sergey Tokarev, the founder of STEM is FEM, notes that the course program is designed so that girls gain machine learning skills, learn how to prototype apps, develop data-driven web applications, and improve their soft skills necessary for working in this field.
SET University launches online cybersecurity platform and Bootcamp
This spring, the technological university SET University, founded by Sergey Tokarev together with the Kyiv School of Economics in 2021, launched an online platform with access to information related to digital security. Thanks to this platform, both teenagers and their parents can learn how to protect their gadgets and social networks from various cyberthreats. In addition, the university offers a course in cybersecurity for those who want to continue their careers with this specialty.
Another SET University’s project is SET Bootcamp, launched in collaboration with the teams from Startup Wise Guys, tech2impact, and Google. The three-week program was specially drafted for startups creating innovative solutions and products, aimed at helping Ukraine recover from the war.
In addition, SET University became a part of another educational initiative — Ukrainian Global University. The project is implemented in partnership with other Ukrainian educational institutions and aims to help students, scholarship holders, and teachers in gaining access to the curricula of educational institutions around the world. The main requirement of the project is to come back to Ukraine after training to help the country cope with the horrific consequences of the war unleashed by Russia.
