Purposes of Different Types of Volumetric Concrete
Volumetric concrete is an essential element of the materials used for the construction of buildings. It is a mixture of cement and water. It is extensively used in the construction business because of its reliability and low maintenance. Concrete is almost indestructible unless used heavy force. Concrete can stand against natural hazards and high-frequency vibrations. That is why; it is widely used to build structures.
The foundation of a building that includes walls and floor are specially built with concrete because they have to hold the weight of the entire structure. Concrete is durable and the most trusted material for this purpose because it can hold the building cohesively and resists any kind of damage.
Types of Concretes:
There are different types of volumetric concrete that are available and used in different projects. For instance, concrete used to make pavements or slabs would not be used to build the building itself. These types of cement contain a different ratio of water and cement and differ in consistency according to the requirements. Slabs and pavements do not face any natural hazard or do not hold heavyweight that is why it is made by using lightweight concrete.
Similarly, concrete that is used to build the commercial or residential structure is not used to build roads because roads serve an entirely different purpose. Roads require a more solid surface to hold the weight of vehicles. Therefore, it is mixed with other materials like a rock to make it tougher.
Future of Concrete:
Volumetric concretes are being experimented with technology for better use of concrete. There is smart concrete that is not yet available in the market to be used but several tests are being applied on it to make sure it is safe to use for construction purposes.
Smart concrete is equipped with technology that can tell about the frequency of vibrations faced by it or the level of damage caused to it. It will make concrete safer as compared to the present reputation as it will be able to let people know about the damage caused to the walls or building so that it could be repaired.
No Compromise!
As volumetric concrete is the main part of the building materials, therefore, the quality of concrete should not be compromised. Compromising on its quality can be a reason for the mishap. There are many benefits of using concrete like it has a tendency to keep the atmosphere of the room or building cool and absorb heat. Due to its strength, it can endure strong winds in terms of high structures. A concrete structure cannot be easily destroyed unless hard force is used, otherwise, it is the toughest material and has been used for ages.
Dams:
Dams hold tons of water therefore a solid and strong dam structure is necessary. Hence, the use of concrete comes in handy. Concrete gives a robust foundation to the dam, which helps it to hold water in its place without concrete dam getting any kind of damage or maintenance work.
