Is Your Chronic Back Pain a Hardware or Software Problem?
Back Pain From Soft Tissue?
You probably would side with back pain as being a software problem. You might go with chronic back pain as a hardware issue. Well, the fact is that it can be both. When you feel lower back pain it is natural to think that a muscle is involved. The reason being is that muscles attach to bones. When a muscle is stretched beyond its physical limitations you can have an interruption of the normal nerve supply. Each muscle has stretch receptors called muscle spindle cells. These muscle spindle cells directly communicate with the spinal cord to inhibit pain. When the ends of these cells are stretched to far it is natural to feel pain. Some would call it a pulled muscle, and it is exactly that. But wait! There is more to understand about the true causes of chronic lower back pain.
Chronic Back Pain Due to Biomechanical Stress
A structure needs to be built on a solid foundation in order to endure life’s stressors. Your body’s foundation with chronic back pain extends from your belly button down to your toes. When something between the belly button and toes goes out of place you lose structural stability due to the mechanical stress. You could say it is a hardware problem. The bones that are shifted out of place create tension throughout the affected area resulting in more chronic lower back pain.So what is the solution? Glad you asked.
Solving Chronic Lower Back Problems
So here is how I see it. The structure must be optimized to work better. Put the tired bones back in place to solidify the foundation. Often a bad lower back has disc herniations that need to be addressed. Non-surgical spinal decompression is the fastest way to heal herniated or bulging discs in the lower back. So chiropractic care mobilizes the distorted bones and spinal decompression to heal the discs. Now I am only pointing out two therapies we use at Core Health I would consider them to be foundational and can lead to restoring structural integrity to your spine. When these are addressed often I will send patients out for physical therapy to strengthen the muscles, you know the software. I hope you found this to be informative.
