Important growth areas for toddlers
Young children are amazing learners. They have an inherent capability to absorb and process information from multiple channels simultaneously. They develop social behaviour, emotional quotient and physical strength at a fast pace which makes mindful early education very important. There is also a great benefit to catching any development trouble early on.
If you’re a parent, you’ve probably heard quite a bit about some of these child developmental milestones already. Doctors, teachers and all sorts of professionals who interact with kids keep an eye out for important changes as children grow. The lerning through fun (LTF) team has spent a lot of time in understanding the growth areas of toddlers and we have incorporated this learning into designing engaging activities for toddlers. We compiled this resource to help you understand all of the important child development areas:
1. Physical growth
Physical growth encompasses strength as well as motor skills. Motor skills are movements and actions of the muscles with an intent to perform a specific action. These skills are divided into eighteen groups and evolve over a child’s initial development years. Success rate is measured by level of awareness in the child about the movement, intention behind the movement and precision achieved by the movement in fulfilling the intention. Our thematic handcrafted worksheets for toddlers aim at increasing their inclination toward goal identification and enhancement of their motor skills with every movement; with great fun and laughter all the way
2. Cognitive ability
Cognitive abilities include thinking, reasoning and problem solving. Our deeply researched thematic worksheets ignite curiosity and engagement in your child leading to natural development of cognitive ability. Our worksheets encourage independent thinking and engagement so children find creative ways to complete activities. A child having access to creative play, like toys, books, and art supplies, helps develop cognitive skillsand is encouraged to participate in active play, which strengthens muscles and helps toddlers develop gross motor skills.
3. Visualization
Our creative books are based on lively themes with detailed characters that can connect with children emotionally. Children are naturally encouraged to visualize the characters and their story. This visualization skill goes a long way in helping them shape their short and long term goals all through life.
4. Focus
Our books like LTF Mandala, Math and many more develop the unwavering focus in your child while still pampering them with learning through fun. Working through riddle books, kids develop focus, precision and the quest to find answers. These qualitative skills go a long way in strengthening the foundation of their personalities and make them an overall balanced individual, while encouraging street smartness at the same time.
5. Association of fun with learning
Fostering the right environment can help children develop self-esteem while also explaining some of their behaviours. LTF activities implicitly draw a mental association of learning with positivity and fun. This builds the confidence of pulling it through difficult or testing situations with a light hearted approach. When we add fun in the child’s routine day and learning, they turn out dedicated, balanced, light-hearted and successful individuals.
When they are chasing the clock for these activities, the first advantage is that all the mundane activities become important for them. They will start seeing value in having a routine and following it. The second benefit out of this will be enhancement in “smart work” when they will constantly want to outdo their target and hence find smarter alternatives or ways of doing the same tasks every day.
When teachers partner with parents and caregivers, these aspects of early childhood development will be helpful to provide the best support possible for every child. We welcome you to join us in this journey that is a blend of learning and fun.
We wish you a happy learning fun-filled journey for you and your precious little one.
