Best Ways To Cultivate Gratitude During Difficult Times

During difficult times, it is easy to forget about what is important in life. Most of us feel so overwhelmed with the struggles we are facing that we fail to find any happiness within ourselves or our lives. We overlook gratitude completely and the blessings at hand. We can’t seem to stop thinking about how miserable we feel or how bad things are getting.

The truth of the matter is that no matter how awful things are right now, there are always people who are experiencing even more pain. Yes, it is important that you recognize the struggles in your life and yes, it is essential that you take action to create a better situation for yourself and those around you. However, if we only look at the darkness in our lives then we will never be able to see the beauty.

We need to stop and appreciate all of the goods that we do have in our lives right now, and it is important that we do this as often as possible. Without gratitude, we will continue to focus on what we don’t have and where we believe we went wrong – which – let’s be honest – is not healthy for anyone. So today, I want to give you guys some tips on how you can start cultivating more gratitude in your life no matter what situation you are currently facing.

1) Take time each day to enjoy nature.

It has been proven that spending time out of doors is very therapeutic and helps us feel happier. Allowing ourselves to breathe in some fresh air and appreciate all of the beauty that nature has to offer will help us find more gratitude within ourselves.

2) Do something nice for someone else.

Now, I know this one can be difficult when we are struggling with bad luck or even depression, but doing something nice for someone else will not only brighten their day, but it will also brighten yours. And the best part is that you don’t have to spend money doing this – there are so many ways to make someone’s day by being kind and thoughtful even if you are having a bad day yourself.

3) Practice mindfulness

You can practice mindfulness in your home or outside of it. All that you have to do is sit down and take a little time each day to focus on what it is that you are doing. By focusing on the present, we can find more appreciation for our lives because we are no longer thinking about all of the bad stuff from the past or all of the crap that might happen in the future.

4) Journal about what you are grateful for.

This is a great way to keep track of all the good things that happen in your life. You can also try writing what you appreciate about any challenges that you might be going through at the moment. By doing this, you will start to feel more positive and open yourself up to receiving more positivity from others as well.

5) Get involved with community development

Volunteering is a great way to not only help out those around you, but it can also make you feel better about yourself. You are doing something positive for the world and others will appreciate your efforts as well. And if they don’t – screw ’em! Make sure that you are looking out for number one and only doing something if it makes you feel good.

6) Spend some time with loved ones.

One of the best things that we can do when life gets tough is to surround ourselves with loved ones. Being around people who love us unconditionally will lift our spirits and remind us what truly matters in life. Sometimes, all we need is a hug and a warm embrace to feel safe and secure.

7) Practice yoga or meditation.

Going to yoga or meditation is great for so many reasons. First of all, you will be able to let go of all the tension in your body and release any anger that might be building up inside you. Also, when we focus on the present, we are more likely to find gratitude within ourselves because all of our attention is turned towards what is happening right now. And if you don’t want to go to a yoga class, there are plenty of videos on YouTube that can help you become more mindful and peaceful.

8) Stop comparing yourself to others.

This will definitely be difficult for some people because we all tend to compare ourselves to others. But here’s the thing – social media doesn’t always show the whole story. There are so many things that go on behind the scenes, and you really don’t know what other people are dealing with just because you see a picture of them smiling. So try your best not to compare yourself to others and take stock of what you have to be grateful for.

9) Enjoy a hobby that makes you happy

Now, I know that it might seem like we don’t really have time during the day to do something fun but it is very important that we find some time in our days to enjoy ourselves and do things that make us laugh or even get us a little bit hot and bothered. It makes us happier people overall because we find pleasure in simple things that others take for granted.

10) Spend some time alone.

I know that this one is difficult for most of us to do since we are so used to being around other people, but spending some time alone will allow you to connect with your inner self. It might be scary at first because you will be alone with your thoughts, but these are the things that we should really pay attention to. Listening to ourselves is one of the best ways to feel more fulfilled and satisfied with life, so make sure that you take some time for yourself every now and then.

11) Going outside

Sitting inside all day will just make you feel down, so try to get outside as much as possible. Take some time to notice the beautiful trees and flowers that are surrounding you on this Earth. We often forget about nature because we spend our days working at a desk or cleaning up after other people. So take some time for yourself and enjoy what is right in front of you.

12) Get a new hobby

If your current hobby is not giving you as much satisfaction as it used to, try finding a new one. This might require some research on the Internet as well as going through all those dusty boxes in your basement or spare room, but it will be worth it when you find something that truly makes you happy.

13) Ask for help from a loved one or friend

Even though it is not easy for most of us to admit that we need help, sometimes we will have to swallow our pride and do whatever it takes to get our lives back on track. So next time something is getting you down, don’t be afraid to ask a loved one for their support. They will be more than happy to help you with whatever is going on in your life.

14) Spending time outside

Surrounding yourself with nature is a great way to lift your spirits and feel better about life. So bring a blanket outside, grab a book, and take some time out of the day to relax under the sun.

15) Take action on your dreams

One of the main reasons why we are unhappy is because we care too much about what others think of us. This prevents us from doing the things that make us happy because our fear gets in the way. So if you have a dream, go for it! Do whatever it takes to make your dreams come true.

Conclusion

Do whatever it takes to become a happier person; it will be worth all the time and energy that you put into this.

There are many techniques that can help you find happiness in your life, but one of the best ways is to help people who are less fortunate than yourself. Volunteering for your local soup kitchen or even donating unwanted clothes to charity will make you feel much better about yourself because you are helping others in need. The best thing that you can do is to share your resources with other people. The more that you give, the happier that you will feel! Happiness is not something that we can find in another person or object; it is something that comes from within us.
