Because it gets hot in May, right before the monsoon season, the best months are March to May and September to December; be prepared for possible rain but gorgeous blossoming rhododendron blooms. The temperature drops below zero in December, yet the days are still stunning. Things to Remember
At the time of booking, as well as upon arrival, provide information about your passport and visa.
Carry your government-issued photo identification (passport, driver’s licence, or voter registration card); any of these will suffice.
To preserve the beauty of our environment, avoid bringing non-biodegradable waste.
Do not consume any intoxicating substances or alcohol while on the walk, as these are completely prohibited.
Take down the directions that the guide and trek leader give you.
Keep a day free in your schedule to recover from the exhaustion of a long flight.
If you need to acquire trekking equipment, Kathmandu is the only place to go. It offers you the greatest and most affordable trekking equipment. There are no ATMs in Lukla, so bring enough cash in case of an emergency.
Point 5
Tea is the only thing that will keep you warm on your walk, but it is very expensive, so bring your tea bags and acquire some hot water, which will not cost you much.
Small tea houses or mountain lodges run by Sherpa people provide lodging along the walk. Showers are available further down the route, but owing to the terrible weather, many people prefer to clean with baby wipes and hot water bowls. Tea houses do not have Western toilets, only a hole in the ground, so finding a toilet can be difficult.
When it’s sunny, you’ll be amazed at how warm it may get. For the first few days at low level, some hikers like to wear shorts and t-shirts, but the temperature drops quickly as the sun sets. While sleeping in your sleeping bag, wear a warm cap.
Remember to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Always have additional water bottles on hand.
When you’re at a high altitude, it’s common to become sunburned, so wear a hat or cap, sunglasses, and apply sunscreen periodically to protect your eyes and skin.
Many people experience headaches at high elevations, but if you take medicine, the headache will not prevent you from trekking. If the headache becomes unbearable, it is best to descend.
Your phone, camera, or torch’s electronic batteries will die faster in the cold, and while some tea establishments will enable you to charge, you can prevent this issue by carrying replacement batteries and portable chargers.
On one of the best Himalayan Treks, don’t forget to take some stunning photos.
