Renovate a caravan | Since we came here with an old caravan refurbishment plan for our tour of Australia, we were excited about it. Looks like we’ve looked at the completely new look and feel and all our plans are forever. And we make up for it! We introduced our truck in October last year.
The moment we looked at it, we should have seen the imagination and insight of what we wanted to create. Since then, our nasty pickup truck has been completely ripped apart, fitting her bony body to the extremes, after which we slowly bring her back collectively from the bare bones of the body for a bit with the help of the use of a bite.
It’s been a long ride, but we finally got there and it a very good way to finally get close to the truck again after months of sitting in our compact driveway with no house windows or doorways and totally exposed to the elements. We’ll be making some posts like this to revamp an old Sell your used Caravan series, but for now, we’re specializing in the main step – the exterior.
Just a part of the disclaimer, we share corporate information that we used and decided would be helpful, but nothing is taken care of regarding this submission. We just had a hard time finding the right companies to paint with Victoria whose information we wanted to share with you.
What are you going to use your new caravan for?
Before you start renovating your caravan, you need to be very clear about what you will be using it for.
To solve your doubts, we will show you 3 types of caravans, so you can choose the one that suits you best:
- Caravans for routes: This is the most difficult renewal. As you shift campsites every few days, the caravan should have an excessive level of autonomy. And now not all camps have the centres you might need.

1st Step to Renovate a caravan
First, you want to buy an old fashioned truck on a cheap budget. But I’m not a mechanic anymore and I don’t need to fix the hubs and wheels (or maybe shift the tires, to be honest…) Ideally, try to buy something within a 50km radius and take it home. Be positive about asking questions because it turns into a near drag and drop.
3rd Step
You can legally tow a van although it hasn’t were given a cutting-edge registration. In all states of Australia (and additionally in New Zealand) you may acquire an Unregistered Vehicle Permit for a distinctive time. This is a low-fee manner of having a caravan home. Try turning on some lights and inserting something like a telephoto phone charger into three sockets (or higher, a powerful output tester). Upgrading lighting fixtures to auxiliary current modes is simple, but full cabling takes time.
6th Step
Is the caravan structurally sound? Above all, make sure that the bottom rails do not rust and that there are no core gaps or holes. You can get this stuff back in and out of the truck, but it wants to be a stable base. Also, test if the sink below is fine. It may be replaced, but it is painful and difficult work. Surface rust is good – it can be rubbed with a thread brush, protected with a rust sealant, after which it is sprayed white, silver or black. But any extensive rust of the tire should be avoided.
7th Step
Don’t be afraid too much indoors. It can be difficult to protect floors with new stick on tiles on the cheap. Rabbits have a prominent area; MDF panels can be ordered with partitions and ceilings. New cabinets may be suitable for updating the old model. It’s amazing what you can do with just clean soapy water. Hence no more gaps and some white coat paint can paint wonders. Even an empty shell can be renewed as long as it is solid. Likewise, exterior paint can be wiped off any world it’s in – dirt, graffiti, as you call it. But most potholes or holes are pleasantly hard to reach or completely full, so stay away from vehicles with major bodywork problems.
8th Step
Don’t be Scared of leaks. Even the damage from water isn’t horrific. They can also appear as signs and symptoms of a bigger problem (and sometimes) but it’s better to talk about a room on wheels here, rather than at home. I usually seal each outdoor joint to the roof with no further gaps to make sure it’s waterproof, whether or not it leaks past inside. You can consolidate the command for more than an hour.
9th Step
Furniture and household equipment are easily replaced. You can upgrade the sinks, cookware and faucets if you want. You can totally get the truck out of scratch and start over if you want to. But what is remarkable is that the larger the better, because it will speed up the work and make things cheaper. They are available if the cabinet doors and handles are reusable because they carry that old experience and can be properly combined with modernization.
10th Step
While the doors and windows of the house can be repaired, they are much more expensive if they are in operation while you buy the truck. While you can get the most out of Rabbits’ interiors, the latches on doors and windows of the house are professional caravans adelaide and expensive to replace. You can make things out of steel and plastic, but that’s hard. You immediately used a storage lock to restore a caravan door and might want to come up with answers to save money.
