Every Upcoming Spider-Man Movie Confirmed to Release
Sony Pictures is now in the process of producing nine films with Spider-Man and the numerous Marvel characters tied to the wall-crawler for release in 2023 and beyond. These films are scheduled to be released.
Since the record-breaking release of No Way Home, Spider-Man has been away from movie theatres for over a year; however, he just made his triumphant comeback with the release of the much anticipated Across the Spider-Verse.
It is abundantly clear that Sony intends to make full use of its Spider-Man movie rights, as the company currently has nine movie projects currently confirmed to be in development across its three different branches – the live-action movies starring Tom Holland from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the animated movies from the Spider-Verse, and its connected universe of villain-led spin-offs.
All Nine Spider-Man Movies Are Coming Soon.
1.) Kraven the Hunter – the 6th of October
In the upcoming live-action adaptation of the Spider-Man mythos, Kraven the Hunter, Aaron Taylor-Johnson will make his first appearance as the infamous antagonist Kraven the Hunter. The film will feature the introduction of other Spider-Man foes, such as Alessandro Nivola’s Rhino and others; in addition, Russell Crowe will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe comeback in the role of a new villain.
The first trailer for Kraven the Hunter was presented for the first time earlier this year at the CinemaCon convention. In the video, descriptions of Taylor-Johnson’s character called him “animalistic” and “vicious.” Additionally, the next installment in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe has already been announced to have a R rating and to be “grounded heavily in the real world.” This is great news for many fans.
2.) Madame Web – the sixteenth of February, 2024
Madame Web will make its debut in early 2024 as the first chapter in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe to be led by a female protagonist. The film’s ensemble cast will feature well-known actors like as Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott.
The film appears to be the entry in the spin-off world that focuses on Spider-Man the most, with a potential wall-crawler Variant being shown, an all-new Uncle Ben cast, various Spider-Women being introduced, and even evidence suggesting a newborn Peter Parker could play into Madame Web.
3.) Venom 3 – TBD
Tom Hardy will reprise his role as Eddie Brock in the next film Venom 3, and the actor has confirmed that preparations are already under way for the film’s production, which is scheduled to take place in England between the months of June and September. This might mean that everyone’s favourite symbiotic couple will be returning to theatres as soon as late 2024, provided that no unexpected roadblocks appear in the way.
Since Hardy will be reprising his role in the film under the direction of Kelly Marcel, who was also the screenwriter for the first two Venom films, his remuneration is expected to be substantial. It has been rumoured that Chiwetel Ejiofor, who plays Doctor Strange, is in talks to join the film as a new Marvel character. On the other hand, it has been stated that Owen Wilson turned down a role that is now being offered to Jemaine Clement.
4.) Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse – March 29, 2024
Fans won’t have to wait too much longer to see the animated Miles Morales return to action since the first chapter of the Spider-Verse sequel has just recently been released in theatres. The Spider-People continue their battle against The Spot in the upcoming film Beyond the Spider-Verse, which is scheduled for release early in the following year and picks up just where Spider-Verse 2 left off.
The exciting promise that “the sky really is the limit” will be fulfilled in the threequel was made by the film’s producer, Peter Ramsey. However, it is currently unknown what will happen to the Spider-Verse following the conclusion of the film. Before the release of the sequel, the animated version of Morales will make one more appearance in a brand-new short.
5.) Spider-Man 4 – TBD
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4, the follow-up to the game-changing finale of No Way Home, which inaugurated a whole new era for Peter Parker’s character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is likely the entry on this list that many people are most looking forward to seeing. Both Sony and Marvel are currently working on the project, but it appears that progress has been delayed because of the writers’ strike.
It is anticipated that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Zendaya’s portrayal of Mary Jane will both make appearances in an upcoming street-level drama that will be connected to the aftermath of Disney+’s Daredevil: Born Again. It is not clear whether this means that Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock or Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin would appear, but both have shown interest in a Spider-Man crossover.
Matt Murdock is played by Charlie Cox, and Kingpin is played by Vincent D’Onofrio.
6.) El Muerto – January 12, 2024 (Likely Delayed Due to Production Delays)
Bad Bunny, a Latin artist, was confirmed in April 2022 to play the lead role in Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man spin-off film, El Muerto. The film would focus on a super-powered wrestler who has only been featured in two comic issues in the all of their publication history. Since then, the creator has expressed his enthusiasm for the character by stating that the upcoming film “will be epic.”
The development of El Muerto is “at a standstill,” according to recent reports; therefore, it is exceedingly doubtful that the game will be released in January 2024 as planned. After all, Sony has films in the can that are even scheduled to be released after that, and El Muerto has not shown any signs of beginning production any time in the near future.
7.) Hypno-Hustler – TBD
Donald Glover will be making another foray into the world of wall-crawlers, which brings up the question of Spider-Man foes who nearly no one has ever heard of. No, he will not be reprising his role as Aaron Davis, or the Prowler-to-be, whom he played in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Instead, he will be producing and starring in a film about Hypno-Hustler, which he will also direct.
Reports suggest that the fact that Hypno-Hustler is renowned for being the head of a band with plenty of musical ties may be what attracted Glover to the project considering that he also has a musical career under the name Childish Gambino. Hypno-Hustler is recognised for having plenty of musical connections. The movie was announced in December 2022, however there is currently no information available regarding when it would be released.
8.) Spider-Woman – TBD
Olivia Wilde is rumoured to have signed on to helm a film featuring Jessica Drew in the middle of the year 2022. For years, there have been rumours that a movie based on Spider-Woman will be made. The director of Don’t Worry Darling may have even hinted to connections between the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Marvel Studios when she made reference to dodging “Kevin Feige’s pellet gun.”
In spite of the fact that there hasn’t been any new information regarding that version of Spider-Woman for quite some time, Sony Pictures has recently confirmed that fans will see a movie starring the character “sooner than you expect.” There is a possibility that this is alluding to Madame Web’s many Spider-Women, one of whom was portrayed by Sydney Sweeney. If so, this would be a possibility.
9.) Live-Action Miles Morales – TBD
While Across the Spider-Verse is making its way into theatres, Sony has announced that they have great plans for additional adventures with Miles Morales, this time as the character makes his live-action debut. However, this news was accompanied by the disclaimer that fans would likely “have to wait a couple of years” before that comes to fruition.
As interest in the character of Morales continues to soar, rumours about a potential live-action adaptation of the character have been circulating for some time now. Many people have voiced the desire that the voice actor for Miles from Spider-Verse, Shameik Moore, will play the character of Miles in the live-action film, but given that the film is not expected to debut for several more years, Moore, who is now 28 years old, may be too old for the part.
The Prospects for Spider-Man on Television
In addition to the nine Spider-Man-related projects that are in the process of being developed for the big screen, Sony is planning movie-level endeavours for television that will use its Marvel characters. This comes as Marvel Studios, owned by Disney, and DC Studios, owned by Warner Bros., continue to make similar attempts to bring their respective shared universes, the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Universe, to television as well.
Silk: Spider Society – Date to be Determined
Lauren Moon, often known as Silk, is the star of one of the live-action programmes that is currently being created for Amazon Prime. Moon is a Korean-American girl who was bitten by the same spider as Peter Parker. Silk: Spider Society was developed by the same team that was responsible for producing Spider-Verse. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are reportedly off to “a really exciting start” with the project.
Spider-Man Noir – TBD
The live-action Spider-Man Noir show that Sony is developing for Amazon Prime will centre on an older version of the wall-crawler who operates in 1930s New York City. The programme will take place in an alternate dimension, and Mortal Kombat writer Oren Uziel is working on the project. Lord and Miller are also participating with the production. However, the two have stated that production on Silk and Spider-Man Noir has been suspended due to the strike that has been going on with the authors.
Spider-Man: The First Year — Date to Be Determined
Spider-Man: Freshman Year is the name of the series that Marvel Studios is developing for Disney+ to feature its very own wall-crawler. An alternate version of Peter Parker will appear on the programme alongside a number of new allies to help him battle a broad array of foes.
He will also work alongside Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Doctor Strange in this iteration of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The television programme has already been given the green light for a second season of its Sophomore Year run.
Across the Spider-Verse is currently showing in theatres all over the world, making it possible for fans of Spider-Man to watch him there right now.
Following the completion of production on Spider-Man: No Way Home, Sony Pictures producer Amy Pascal hinted that the company is working on the scripts for two additional Spider-Man movies.
Since Spider-Man: No Way Home broke both box office records and internet records, Sony has been hard at work developing new live-action films, including Kraven, which is set to be released in 2023, Madame Web, which is set to be released in 2024, and El Muerto, which is apparently undated.
In addition, Tom Holland is scheduled to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) return in Spider-Man 4, which is now in the early stages of development and will centre on Peter Parker’s college life in a universe in which he is a complete unknown.
Sony will have its hands busy for the foreseeable future with new storylines to tell because characters like Miles Morales and Spider-Woman are still waiting for their own live-action debuts.
Sony has been dropping hints about live-action Spider-Man stories.
During the red carpet premiere event for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Sony Pictures executive Amy Pascal shared with Variety that the studio is currently developing both a live-action Miles Morales movie as well as an animated Spider-Woman movie.
Despite the fact that she did not provide any specific information on either film, she made it very apparent that “you’ll see all of it” and that these projects are “all happening” in the near future.
Avi Arad, the film’s producer, has also dropped hints that fans will be able to watch a movie starring Spider-Woman “sooner than you expect.” Arad may be making a reference to the rumoured appearances of many Spider-Women in 2024’s Madame Web movie, which is rumoured to feature several “badass females.” Although he was unable to provide any further specifics on that movie, he did guarantee that it will be made.
Concerning Sony’s upcoming animated Spider-Woman film, this may very well be a spin-off of Across the Spider-Verse and feature Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen Stacy, Issa Rae’s Jessica Drew, or maybe even all of them. This is something to keep an eye out for.
There are rumours that Sony controls the rights to Miles Morales for a live-action movie and that the company is looking into the notion of releasing a movie centred on Miles, which would be set in a different universe than the Venom movies. These rumours have led to speculation that Sony owns the rights to Miles Morales for a live-action movie.
Pascal also hinted that the live-action debut of Miles might take place in March, but she clarified that fans will likely “have to wait a couple of years” for that to become a reality.
